"What do you do?" Seems I'm no longer capable of formulating a response to this. Caught completely off guard by it this evening upon emerging from the hermitage for the first time in months. Would be a lot easier to explain what I'm not doing.

The permanent address line on forms always stumps me. No clue where I'll be tomorrow, let alone permanently.

First contact with the outside world in a long stretch, and I'm left wordless. Haven't worked since four years ago, so couldn't answer in the way that was being asked.

I've been un-doing for the most part. Untying tangled knots, inching along threads that stretch across vast tapestries of contemplative terrain. Unraveling habituated patterns, weaving together meaning from the remains. Patchwork. Quilting. None of it literal—Much of it literary.

Ahhh, then maybe to fit what’s expected you could just say patchwork quilting. 😊 It is interesting how I like to put people in a box based on their job. Now that I don’t have a good answer to that, nor do I want to be put in a box, I ask people what they do for joy or hobbies.
