Rather than push them away as if they were a sign of something amiss, expecting meditation to be pure bliss, one source of relief for me has entailed staying present to them with open awareness, regardless of how much it might wish to narrow and flee.

Ghosts fade on their own when introspective light is shined on them in meditation, even if that light initially brings them to the foreground, casting shadows of frightening proportion across the mind's terrain. Their haunting presence eventually dissolves upon scrutiny.
