how do you think he is defining a concept? I'm just thinking that on a very thin level "unapprehendable" and "understandable by direct experience" are both concepts. So he must mean something more robust by "concept". Is that right?

The shell of mere intellect void of lived experience, or theory divorced from practice—at least that's the impression I got. Then there's "conceptual proliferation" (prapañca) which entails a mind gone wild in discursive activity.
