if you were worried about eg an ill relative who needed your help and was getting worse by the minute for example, would it be rational to be uncomfortable if a scientist asked you to spend 15 minutes in a room doing nothing?

This is a good question, one that is unfortunately neglected by the vast majority of studies, which privilege quantitative measurement over phenomenological accounts.
