By watching what, I wonder? Most of these quotes are actually traceable, split between the Pāli suttas and Prajñāpāramitā sūtras, but some are a mystery. Will have to run some searches on sakko-devānam-indo/śakro-devānām-indro this weekend to see what can be unearthed on this.https://twitter.com/_BuddhaQuotes/status/1228525075974033408 …

To this, Sakka (Śakra) aka Inda (Indra) exclaims: "Oh! Conditions are impermanent, their nature is to rise and fall; having arisen, they cease; their stilling is true bliss." (Aniccā vata saṅkhārā, uppādavayadhammino; Uppajjitvā nirujjhanti, tesaṃ vūpasamo sukho.) Ibid.

Perhaps Indra's practice is to watch the rise and fall, to ride the waves without being swept away by them. He is among the few who are watchful, not wailing uncontrollably at the loss of their teacher. Heeding the Buddha's parting words, he practices watchfulness (appamādena).

Do you like Achahn Mahaboowa?

Ajahn Maha Bua is a skilled storyteller, from the little I've seen. The monastery where I previously studied covered his biography of Ajahn Mun in depth during our unit on hermeneutics, but otherwise, I remain unfamiliar with his work. Is there anything you would recommend?
