We used to do rapid-fire multiplication tests. Stressed me out so bad. I don't remember if it was one minute or five minutes, but we were supposed to finish as many problems as was inhumanly possible in the allotted time.

In sixth grade, "they" (the powers-that-were) put me in eighth grade math. Must have shown potential. Sometime after exhausting the math classes offered in high school and ceasing my mathematics education, my math performance plummeted exponentially.

I retain nothing of those days. A part of my brain went missing shortly thereafter, likely from self-detonation. Barely passed Chemistry with a "C+" as an undergraduate because the equations kept tripping me up...

I still wonder if the admissions committees to these philosophy and religion programs might hold this against me... Or could it be the "B" I received for that philosophy of quantum mechanics paper? The "A-" for that scandalous exposé on the Lotus Sūtra and Deleuze?
