I believe "philology" is from ḍukṛṅkaraṇe: bhaja govindaṁ bhaja govindaṁ govindaṁ bhaja mūḍha-mate samprāpte sannihite kāle nahi nahi rakṣati ḍukṛṅkaraṇe

Yes, given that "Pāṇini's rules" (and other such concerns) are an object of worldly pursuit, inferior to spiritual devotion (according to Śaṅkara, it seems).
