Secondhand smoke feels worse when I get it while running. I wonder if this is physiologically true.

I imagine it goes deeper into your lungs when you run, maybe that's why? (and YUK it's horrible!)

When my system (both cardiovascular and respiratory) is already under heavier than baseline use due to exercise, the added burden of smoke (whether from secondhand tobacco or fire) only puts further strain on it, an extra load that weighs it down.
