There's power in both "doing" and "not-doing" (not killing, not stealing, etc.). So-called "parlor monks" (monastic recluses) might contribute to the off-setting of insanity through abstention from insane activity.

The flower follows the suns movement as a result of self interest. The roots seek water and minerals. Is this not an example of a self reflective response to other then itself? Nothing is permanent or unchanging, excluding some absolute which exists outside of law.
