Peter Gregory (1991) in Tsung-mi and the Sinification of Buddhism. "Tsung-mi" (Zongmi, 宗密) was a syncretist who amalgamated Buddhism (Huayan and Chan with obvious Yogācāra influence), Daoism, and Confucianism in Tang dynasty China's melting pot of contemplative traditions.
