Not having had time to read it in full, but... this is an interesting idea to explore in connection with certain meditative achievements (e.g. cessations)?

I have a strong suspicion that cessation experiences preserve *minimal* embodiment (this is part of what lies behind claims about the ālayavijñāna and bhavaṅga, right?), but I would love to see anything any of you know on attempts to explore this!

Xuanzang writes in the Cheng Weishi Lun: "A scripture says that the activities of body, speech, and mind of someone in the samādhi of cessation (nirodha-samāpatti) are all extinguished; yet life does not end, heat does not leave the body, the sense organs do not deteriorate..."1/

Although Xuanzang doesn't cite them explicitly by name, he's likely referencing the Cūḷavedalla Sutta and Dutiyakāmabhū Sutta (or their Āgama parallels), both of which indicate: 4/
