I had planned to be on retreat there next week. It was cancelled as the center prepares ceremonies. Do you know any others centers around where we can meditate alone in our kuti ?

Wat Doi Suthep, up the mountain from Chiang Mai. Easiest way there is to get a red songthaew with a group (most likely tourists going up for the day). It's the same lineage and tradition as Wat Chom Tong. Not sure if they're closed for the funeral proceedings, but worth a try. GL

Thanks. I didn't know we could meditate by ourselves in a room at Wat Doi Suthep. I think we can at Wat Ram Poeng though...

Maybe things have changed since I was there in July 2017, but best to check with whomever is now serving as retreatant coordinator.

Ok. Thanks a lot ! We visited it once and people seemed to meditate in a common room.

Multiple options available at both. Wat Chom Tong likewise has two common meditation halls. Retreatants may use either of those or their private room. Some also meditated outside around the main pagoda at night. I mostly opted for lakeside.pic.twitter.com/wJ4S3ysO8a

Thanks. I was in Chom Thong in 2000 and loved the possibility to meditate in my private room. That's what I'm looking for. The photos look like Chom Thong, right ? It seems there are no separate kutis like that in Doi Suthep or Wat Ram Poeng. Rather buildings with rooms.

None of the international retreatants were in kutis at either location in July 2017. Kutis were reserved for Thai locals at the time. I stayed in single-occupancy rooms of two-story houses, as did others. Never ran into my housemates despite staying in the same building.
