The "hardened ethnic conclaves we see in Europe" is what the Federalist sees. That's alt-right BS many in the US have bought into--on all sides. The ignorance shines through when they do not know what a "conclave" is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papal_conclave …

this tactic scares me even more than closing the borders - it is way too close to the tactic used by Nazis in Austria and Poland to strip Jews of any legal and human rights. Once fascists make people "stateless" - strip them of their citizenship - the next step is to dehumanize.
-
people keep making the mistake that Trump's policies are thought up by Trump, etc. He might be pushing and "selling" them, but anything immigration/citizenship is being fleshed about by devious miscreants like Miller, etc. who are borrowing from the worst episodes of history.
-
Why can't Trump be a Nazi? He used to keep a book of Hitler speeches by his bed. He's showing us who he is. Believe him.
#GOPNeoNazis -
he is most definitely a fascist. But, he's not the one figuring out the mechanics and operations - that's done by more methodical effers who have spent their lives thinking of the legal gray areas to inflict maximum pain on minority groups and political enemies.

Trump = chaotic evil w/ low intelligence/wisdom Miller, etc. = lawful evil w/ high intelligence and really low charisma

When even the Federalist doesn't want a piece...

The warning at the end of the article is very powerful. The Republican Party is committing political seppuku in its quest to provide instant political gratification to whatever wretched cohorts it happens to be pandering at this moment.pic.twitter.com/kmzaBQHoL9

That's the goal. The Republicans are trying to create a feudal oligarchy.

They should really look at the effect it's had in European countries before thinking it's so perfect. It's not as if it stops migration.

I really think this is out there to serve to principal goals: 1. Pleasure Trump's base. 2. Get liberals' heads to explode.
-
Even though #1 and #2 are true, it doesn't preclude that this is also an ultimate goal. For many, ending birthright citizen has been a hush-hush talk for years, if not decades, the stuff talked privately and in the closet. Now they get a POTUS to make their wet dreams come true.

someone should tell Ben that the word is enclave not conclave though.

Also, as a practical matter, it would be impossible to implement anyways, even if it is somehow ended. How far would it go back? Will descendants of 19th century immigrants be "decitizened?" (Then who wouldn't be affected?) It's irresponsible nonsense, a smokescreen. 1/
-
In the short to medium term, it will simply offend many Hispanics (not a good move for GOP, since Democratic affinity of Hispanics is not a sure thing). But, at the same time, it'll just showcase how dysfunctional American politics became, arguing loudly over nonsense... 2/
-
Instead of trying to cut deals over doing things that actually might be useful and productive. But GOP is so dysfunctional now that they can't agree on doing anything useful. That's the real pity. 3/

If I’m not a first generation citizen do I still have to pay taxes?
-
They will take more than your money. They always take everything from the stateless. I'd worry more for my life than my taxes if this goes through.
-
Yes I agree. Just wish the Dems we’re pushing back harder against this nonsense.
