Brazil has compulsory voting (even then, 30% of ballots cast were marked null/blank). Just imagine how different the US and its politics could be if everyone had to vote.

sure. My point in tweeting that wasn't that it was evidence in particular about what happened in Brazil, just that there is some systematic evidence about the effects of compulsory voting, so we don't need speculate from anecdotes.

Yes of course, bad enough in so many ways. I'm just saying, Trump did not yet succeed in dismantling core pieces of American democracy (not anymore that the GOP did anyway). The jury is still out for Bolsonaro (let's hope for the best).
