The "oh yeah well sure weve known that for years" responce seems like a step on an academic version of the grief stages somewhere between "it's exaggerated" and "there's problems in other fields besides mine"

Here is a lesson that economists should appreciate: groupthink and biasing results with pre-expectations (MAJOR problems at the bench) are a type of market opportunity. It takes nerve to use rigor (ie blinding) and roll with results that fly in the face of expectations. 1/2

Most of the time when you're contradicting everyone, you made a mistake. Triple check yr numbers, kid! Sometimes tho 'everyone' didn't have the tools yet to grok a result, or they're afraid to contradict a powerful leader in the field. In that case your ROI can be HUGE. 2/2
