Interesting. Did violently curtailing immigration from 1924-65 speed up assimilation of Jews, Italians, E. Euros? Or did it artificially heighten divisions, and lead to assimilation probs, w/ main new migrants: Black Southerners and Puerto Ricans moving to Northern metropolises?
