For all the change in the tone and rhetoric of our politics, the actual policy issues America is fighting over - universal health care, taxes, illegal immigration, gun control, Roe v. Wade - are pretty much the same ones we were fighting over when I was a kid in 1993.

Brooks was arguing in NYT that last century it was big v small govt and now it’s identity politics v the cohesive identity of America. It seems the fight is really people who need power to achieve social good and the people who want power because power. Only one brings progress.
