1968 was fairly close, actually.

I was trolling a bit. It wasn't close in electoral college as much though.

It was reasonably close, not a landslide!

I was using Trumpian definition of EC > 300 = Landslide. Ignoring my troll there I think very few people have an idea of how big a landslide 1972 was for Nixon both EC and especially popular vote.

Seriously though despite my Trumpian sympathies I think it would be a good idea for Dems to lose the House and move more to the center. I could easily see myself voting for someone like Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz but he can't win a Dem primary in the party as it is today.

Trump is dog poo. You can build a car out of dog poo but it won't go from 0 to 60.

I didn't vote for him in 2016 but I am coming around. I like his corporate tax cut and I think he was right to rattle China's cage. If he can sustain economic boom for another 2 years I am all in.

I am a brown immigrant from India BTW. I don't buy into the whole Democratic racism freakout. Illegal immigration is a real issue and Trump might not be the most polished guy on this issue but he is the only one doing something there.

It's not a big issue anymore. Net illegal immigration basically halted a decade ago. Looking at numbers and facts is a great way to clear the head!

I came to this country in mid 1990s. Been hearing the same arguments about how illegal immigration is in decline. Yet the numbers speak for themselves. Compare Hispanic population today to that after Reagan amnesty.

Illegal immigration surged after that amnesty and the inflow peaked in the early 2000s. Then in 2007 - slightly before the Great Recession, actually - it halted and went into reverse, and has not recovered.

I don't disagree with you about last 10 years. However it is an ongoing threat. Also we now have a substantial underclass because of illegal immigration in 1990s and much of 2000s. It has probably hurt African Americans the most.
