As long as there's geographical migration & assortment by partisan ideology (folks moving to red states or blue states), will some kind of secession become inevitable?

Why do you think that? (honest q; history of broken up large countries is mixed rather than disastrous...).

Because the areas that would want to secede from each other aren't territorially contiguous enough, making it too hard to draw new stable borders.

I’m not sure people in blue states realize that cities in red states are also mostly blue. Dems get millions of votes in Texas. Just not as many as Rs get.
