Now, taking the $8900 2016 current international $ PPP number from my graph (source: CIA World Factbook https://www.indexmundi.com/g/g.aspx?c=es&v=67 …), and deflating it by the U.S. GDP deflator back to 2005, we get $7343 for 2005.

These don't look like the same data series. Why would using 2005 vs 2011 PPP US$ make so much difference?? This is either a data error or something real that might be relevant to the interpretation of what 'real GDP' is for the regression of migration on per capita income.
