Um... wasn't voting discrimination no longer "flagrant, widespread, or pervasive" *because* of the VRA? "I don't see any current bleeding, so let's take this thing off", says the paramedic before he removes the tourniquet from the severed leg.

I suspect Justice Roberts, like most right-of-center white Americans, sincerely believes racism is primarily a problem of our past with little bearing on present or future conditions. This willful blindness is only possible because they ignore all dissenting and black voices.

The circular logic is that the Voting Rights Act isn't needed because states aren't violating the Voting Rights Act. That premise was destroyed the day after the decision.

Is it possible that the VRA prevented states from closing polling stations in depopulated locales, so overturning that section of the VRA allowed them to close many of them at once? Analogous to a pent-up demand story. (Not claiming it’s the true explanation, but seems plausible)

At BEST, Roberts is a gullible fool who has been played by Republican operatives. People need to laugh in his face more and mock him publicly.
