I’d like it more if it paid for itself by slashing the MID by $45 billion per year. But it’s definitely one of the better plans out there.

though picking fights with realtors may not be the best choice of payfor for a pro-development bill, all things considered. I think the estate tax makes some conceptual sense if seen through the lens of wealth.
-
Yeah, politically, tapping into the MID is a non-starter. But man I wish it wasn’t. It’s one of our dumbest policies.
-
Would also be nice to sell the plan as revenue neutral with no tax increase. Which isn’t possible in its current form.
-
I also hate the MID but TCJA dealt it a significant blow. Inflation will do the work till its so trivial no one with fight repeal
-
Here’s hoping these are the sorts of issues that are discussed in 2020! (We can dream, right?)
-
Dude if 2020 candidates get into an arms race over housing affordability I'll be so happy

Put it up against Harris's nonsense and the winner is clear.

im skeptical that monetary incentives will end up impacting zoning policy. id love hear a convincing case otherwise
-
States may be able to apply for those incentives by whacking municipalities with sticks.

All these wonderful plans never seem to affect the budget

Neat! But a thin plan. First: “investing $500B into affordable housing. allocate fed $ to subsidize housing...” Cool! But then: “...in rural neighborhoods and improve the quality of that housing.” Oh. Okay. Then: “...without adding a dime to the deficit.” You lost me, coach.
