NIMBY's arguing that Jane Jacobs supports them is prima facie evidence that they haven't actually read her work. Yes, she rallied against Robert Moses and the Madison Square Garden project, but that was because she objected to *Suburbs,* not because she objected to *Density.*

Jane Jacobs books are wonderful. I didn't read any of them until after I had completed my PhD in economics. I couldn't have felt more impressed and surprised than if I had completed a PhD in physics instead and suddenly realized that no one had told me about atoms and molecules.

She was brilliant. Density does not mean high rise. Low rise housing is denser and more sustainable.
