By endorsing a policy of confiscating land from rich landlords (with minimal compensation) and distributing it to poor farmers, Ladejinsky saved much of East Asia from communism. This story, I think, has some lessons for the modern day.

I'm not sure redistributing commodity hardware from server farms is going to have the same salutary effect.

The land reform redistributed productive assets that were relatively hard to alienate to people who knew how to operate them effectively. I'm struggling to think of a modern day equivalent.

I'm not sure how "redistributing housing," whatever that means operationally, is supposed to be equivalent to redistributing farmland. A farm isn't just a house, it comes with a job attached.

As I understand it, part of the Studwell argument is that poorly developed economies have virtually no opportunity cost for primary sector labor. That’s not true for developed economies.
