It’s like saying continuing with capitalism will solve climate change. It’s orthogonal to the issue

But a mixed economy where capitalistic investment in new low carbon industries was maximized, and consumption was heavily curtailed and fossil fuel production nationalized and retired would probably be best
-
A total war economy may be a good model, because it shows how an economy is run when dogma gives way to the goal of stretching productive capacity to its limits.

Well, Marxist socialism, with its view that capitalism is a necessary stage of history.was always put in a rather poor position relating to climate change. There are versions of socialism different from Marxist socialism, and I think the eco socialists fit into this mold.
-
In which case, they still can criticize capitalism for causing climate change cohesively. Bruening’s sociaism is much closer to Marxist orthodoxy.
-
While some ecosocialists might claim to be orthodox Marxists, many capitalists mock the labor theory of value while worshipping Adam Smith. Most people haven’t read even the first volume of Capital! It’s super long!

man noah you really don't want to face the fact that your liberal views are directly antithetical to the continual existence of the biosphere, huh?

I agree socialism won't solve climate change on it's own, but I do feel like corporate sponsored propaganda is a major roadblock to environmentalists.

I found the bit about geoengineering easier to disagree with than most of what he says in this piece and elsewhere, although this may just be because like any good Bayesian I'm more sceptical of arguments that contradict my priors

It's funny, the unintended consequences of these policies never gets addressed as it relates to grid reliability and costs to the consumer. Instead, it's gov't (oops, I mean democratic) industry takeover or we die......which is fascist logic.
