We're still in a (defect, defect) equilibrium of the GOP-Dem prisoners' dilemma. We need to figure out how to get to (cooperate, cooperate), because this is a repeated game.https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2017-09-08/a-game-theory-solution-for-a-fractured-america …

GERIATRIC GOP RIOTS IN THE STREETS
-
wasn't that the Tea Party?
-
It’s the sequel. Tea Party pt2, It’s Just Sad Now
-
If the GOP actually loses as badly as they could, the reaction would be a mob of very loud but demographically tiny people. Like the Tea Party, but even more pathetic

Neither one of the parties is getting much smarter. Indeed, devolution seems to be the new normal.pic.twitter.com/ynaCE22K8B

I take issue with the false equivalence. Some people are facing 'Apocalypse.' They're just not white and affluent.

Well, the other side of this is that one party already controls all three branches of government and structurally represents a minority of Americans, so working to secure "dominance" at this point comes at the expense of the soundness of democratic, representative institutions.
-
At this point I think the leadership of both parties only represents a small minority of Americans. I’m discontent with orthodoxy in both parties and annoyed how you can’t rationally discuss many important topics because they suffer from so much politicization.
-
Right, but the difference is that one party controls the branches of government and uses institutional power to secure and enforce political "dominance", so I guess I'm generally less worried about the party currently *not* in power.
-
I’m thinking about the mistakes the party not currently in power is likely to make when it gets to he power back, which I suspect is a matter of time. Might not get the senate this time around, in part due to those mistakes.

It's a very real concern, made all the more credible based on some of the responses you are getting.

Would love it if the word "compromise" were taken off the modern version of George Carlin's seven words list.

Not sure many Rs believe that to be true, in the way you phrase it. They seem to be adopting a more "slash and loot while we still can" attitude.
