Does China emit a bunch of carbon because the West exported its manufacturing industries to China? Mostly no.https://twitter.com/Noahpinion/status/1051674418907308032 …

8/A third way we Americans try to preserve the illusion of control is by claiming that America exports its emissions to China (by offshoring carbon-intensive industries). But in fact, this accounts for only a small piece of the rise in China's CO2 emissions. pic.twitter.com/4eeXBZh959

Dude! Can we look at emissions per capita or per worker?! I get that trade volumes are levels not rates but still

        Doesn't matter. That's illusion-of-control.

But aggregate emissions show an “illusion of impact,” when the populations involved are 4x-5x different

This is a really good set of posts. My only suggestion wld be to take IPCC with a larger grain of salt with regard to their tone of immediate panic (Eg ‘dire’ when no predict I’ve seen predicts mass starvation or quick flooding or ...).

but also, different countries have different preferences for pollution...and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Developing countries might be okay with trading off more carbon in exchange for growth.
