5/This is just a fact. But it's an uncomfortable one for a people like Americans who are used to thinking that the world lives or dies at their command. Thus, I see many Americans desperately trying to preserve the illusion of control with respect to climate change.

16/BUT, on our own, this won't be nearly enough. We need to do all we can to encourage China to decarbonize. This includes sharing all of our green energy tech with China, and even trying to pay them to decarbonize.pic.twitter.com/nVkquYUTAF

18/But the horrible truth is, even all of these incentives probably have only a marginal ability to sway China's decisions. Like it or not, the future of our planet is in the hands of some folks in Beijing. (end)

In other words, we can't do much to stop climate change, but we should do our best to make Al Gore and other "green" industries billions. No thanks.

A carbon tax in combination with carbon credits is a joke. Eliminate the carbon credits or the ability to purchase them, and that would help.

This has to include nuclear. Look at what France did, compare it to Germany's efforts over a similar time frame, 30 years later, look at the results, look at current energy prices in each nation. Nuclear, funded by government, at scale, works.

Agreed. 1) If emissions reduction is successful in the west, then that's still a big chunk of global emissions; and 2) If China wants to reduce its emissions (and it surely will) then it would be good for everyone if effective methods could be imitated or bought from the West.
