I'm going to teach myself some math, and I'll be asking lots of potentially stupid questions. First up: Is there a difference between saying "a vector space" and "a set of vectors" ?

Also a vector space is closed under addition and scalar multiplication, so {0, [0,1], [1,1]} is a set of 3 vectors in R^2, but it’s not closed under vector addition or scalar multiplication.
