My guess is the insane amount of black-on-black violence could be solved by more policing, not less.https://twitter.com/Noahpinion/status/1050834238537314304 …

All achieved by - as you say - better policing. Point to you, and accepted. Have you read "Ghettoside," by Ms Leovy? Profile of very good policing undermined by a culture of retribution, i.e., gangs. And what was Spike Lee's second last film about?
-
Yep, haven't read it, but I'm familiar with it (and with the general idea of honor culture and its replacement by state protection). I really think that's the key - when citizens trust the cops to protect them, it breaks the cycle.
-
And I get that. But if we keep running into this faux Marxist ideology, and selective meaning generation efforts from the so called "left," the trusting the cops won't happen. Distrust of the police is the engine room of distrust, and it's just not as bad as it seems.

Here are changes in murder rates for American cities of over 1M people over the last decade. It's clear that most cities are getting something right.pic.twitter.com/dX4RfMO8Us

I hear you brother. So, explain Chicago. There is systemic racism in one major city in your wonderful city of Chicago? I think not.

I meant "country."
