I don't disagree that their primary goal is to maintain the status quo, the rest is totally at odds with history. Right now Brian Kemp is trying to purge voter rolls of black people. There is a rich history of indisputable efforts to prevent minorities from voting.

Again, I would argue, and again say that this is a crucial distinction, that this is a power play. The fact that they are black is far less important than they are *not Republicans.*

This is a distinction without a fucking difference.

There's a conceptual distinction. In practice, there's no distinction but in terms of ideology, there's a massive distinction. It's horrible either way, but again, it's the difference between Fascism and a play to protect the interests of property.

There's only a distinction if you're fine with policies that hurt minorities. Minorities, on the other hand, might find it in their best interest to vote against parties that are trying to hurt them, whether or not Sam Hicks wants us to empathize with racists.

I'm not fine with disenfranchising anyone. I want full rights restored to felons, in fact. I think the right to vote should be as broad as possible. I'm trying to make a subtle point here. Let's allow for some subtly to creep into our discussions.

I understand your point and I reject it wholeheartedly. If you're capable of disenfranchising and dehumanizing people based on race, if you're willing to sacrifice their future based on the accident of their birth, you HATE them. How hard is that to get through your skull?

and I'm a little scared that you don't understand why this distinction is important. If we have two political parties and one is expressly fascist, that's quite a statement. I'm making the argument that this is not what is happening. That's all. If you feel it is, say so.

How much more obvious do I have to be? How much more evidence do you need?

And let me be explicit because for some reason you think that I'm too stupid to understand the "subtle" point you're making. There is a donor class that has purchased the Republican party in full. Republican leadership is 100% on board. Republican elites include genuine /1
