Struck by people who angrily insist successful impeachment does *not* overturn results of an election. Voters elect a president. Successful impeachment removes that president. How is that not overturning result?

I disagree pretty strongly. In your version the president's behavior has an electoral mandate/legitimacy behind it no matter what. Let's say POTUS shoots people on 5th ave. Impeachment wouldn't overturn the election unless you think he was elected to shoot people on 5th avenue.

In the universe where the left didn't go insane and start trying to remove Trump from office on November 9, this argument may have some purchase. We don't live in that universe. It boggles my mind that so many on the right continue to insist we do.

The voters picked Clinton, though.

And a majority of them want Trump removed.

It’s does nothing of the sort. If Hillary Clinton becomes President based on impeachment, that would be overturning election results. “Overturn”pic.twitter.com/ciRx9hImqe

I just don’t see the description of this process at issue in conflict with that. It is loaded and perhaps lacks precision, granted.

No, it doesn't. At all. The will of the voters was that POTUS be elected over another candidate. And he was. Overturning their verdict would render the other candidate president. That is manifestly not what happens. It doesn't undo, reverse, or overturn an election.

The people elect the vice-president to take over the presidency if the elected president is unable to fulfill his/her duties. Impeachment is a process by which Congress determines the president is unable to do so b/c of misconduct.

Unless you erase everything Trump has done, unseat all the judges, hoist the 2 SCOTUS out, it's not overturning anything. He got the job, he did stuff, he got fired for doing some of it. Unless he was elected to commit impeachable acts, then that's another discussion.
