Clear expectations need to be effectively communicated to all members of Congress and all future congresspeople. With consequences. No ability to trade stocks will weed out some of these grifters. With its present lucrative options, Congress is a win-win for grifters and greed.

The SEC has robust rules about personal investments for auditors - you can't audit a company AND own it. Nor can you act on inside information. I've wondered for YEARS how on Earth it's possible for Congress to invest. Oh wait, cuz they would be the ones making those rules??

Perhaps a compromise, allowing them to own mutual funds in a true blind trust (not the jokey Trump one,) where they only get a quarterly summary of the total amount of money, without details.
