    I always think bid cities and the IOC are outmaneuvered on social media in these referendums. People opposing bid are normally younger, smarter and better organised than those who back idea. Although never got to a referendum, look at how killed Boston 2024

    I feel that people vote no in bidding referendums for many more reasons than just the cost: transport fears, corruption concerns, IOC extravagance etc. But no detailed study seems to have been carried out to find exactly why...

    It says something that hosting the olympics is so undesirable and dumb that a city can get it now just by *volunteering*.

    As the folks stated clearly: in the Olympic bid city auction, the IOC always wins, but winning city likely will not

    I don’t think Bach helped his cause of making fewer losers with this. Will be hard for ’28 city to claim victory without something extra.
