    Newtongrange Silver is another band enjoying its return to Championship Section. Its sound is at home at this level; mighty. It’s well organised and soloists impress. Shame about wayward entry before the presto. Perc is a tad overdone to close.

    Sad to hear of the death of Bob Fernie, my mate Alan, and neighbour Jane's dad. For many years he proudly beat the bass drum for before ill health forced him to retire.
