It seems all Dems oppose this. I wonder if it anything to do with their voting base.
-
It has everything to do with the Constitution requiring counting of everyone regardless of citizenship. The question is designed to deter participation of those that are not citizens for fear of targeting. But, that's the whole point of the question - but you knew that already.
-
So now the Dems love the Constitution? But I thought it was a living document, open to various interpretations. Or a relic of the past, written by slave-owners. I'm sure this has nothing to do with voting tendencies.
-
. . . or congressional seats, or federal appropriations.
-
It has everything to do with that which is why the GOP wants this question to discourage response rates to benefit them. But, you know that too.
-
Why should people who are here illegally, who are citizens of some other country, be counted the same as American citizens and be given federal appropriations and congressional representation?
-
The Constitution says they must be counted. End.
-
Then they will be counted. But I think the argument is about whether or not they should be asked if they are citizens of the United States. This question has been asked at many prior censuses, with no objection from folks on the Left, until now.
