This single tweet shoots to hell the whole "capital acceleration" bullshit. Kind of hard for capital to accelerate when it's all caused by patents, aka "socialized innovation." Wonder what Land thinks?

2/ In other words, the time lag means that economic rents work for the actors that get them, whether slowing economic growth or stimulating innovation. (slow growth is not the opposite of innovation)

Sure, no one owes Capital a planet to play with. It has to take one (amid many challenging antagonists).

The Roman Empire never had an industrial revolution because it never had patents and trademarks. Policy creates capital, not the other way around.

You're not even engaging the thesis. You said that patents actually slow capital down. Let's make a wager for the souls of all mankind; we will abolish patents. If you are right capitalism will accelerate. If I am right it will stagnate.

How would patents affect, say, oil extraction? Seems like a bunch of shit that doesn't matter to capitaldeath would fall by the wayside, but big test for war etc unphased

No more movies, maybe less vaccines, but need for war and resource extraction doesn't require patents
