PSA SSRI withdrawal syndrome is more serious than most doctors realize. If you are taking an SSRI and wish to stop, titrate down at a quarter of the rate your doctor recommends. The process should last 3–6 months or even longer depending on your dosage.

Withdrawing from, say, 20mg of Lexapro or Zoloft would take at least six months, not a “few weeks” like your pajeet doc-in-a-box told you. If you are taking caplets, you can buy empty gelatin caplets cheaply and prepare your own.

What are the complications of doing it too fast? My ex would wake up covered in sweat

Whole gamut of stuff, but chief among them the “brain zaps.” If you very, very gradually taper off I believe you can discontinue SSRIs with minimum discomfort.pic.twitter.com/faBL0vsYX3
