Hi Nisha, we do not control the website Wikipedia, we only promote Wikipedia in the UK. If there are messages you'd like us to share, please let us know as we support the protests, but we can't make English Wikipedia go dark.

Thanks for your fast reply!! So is there no other way to make the English version dark? Or would I need to contact
@Wikipedia officially? Thank you though for responding, And massive thank you for supporting the protests!!#saveyourinternet1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation also have no control over whether the editors decide to go dark or not. Everything on the site is decided by the editors. Our charities only promote Wikipedia. I believe there is a discussion on Wikipedia currently happening about this.

Thank you for giving me the info! I'm hoping the discussions turn out hopeful, but thanks again for letting me know! If there's anything I can do as well, just let me know. Thank you

I'm afraid the discussions are not looking very good for blacking out the English Wikipedia. Lots of people do not want Wikipedia to take a 'political' or 'advocacy' position. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)#Encyclopedias_for_Deletion_banner_campaign_for_EU_Copyright/Article_13 …

I think what also scares me is if we'll be listened to in the end. This is why things like the #321EUOfflineDay mean a whole lot to us.
I hope the editors have a change in heart, but if not, I hope more websites like @youtube @TeamYouTube and @twitch @TwitchSupport also join us.

I don't think you can expect Google sites like YouTube to do it. The law actually benefits Google to some extent because they already have a content filtering system which they can now sell to others for profit.
