The great thing about the Scooby gang is they're defined by their distinct personalities/character traits. They can be reimagined into whatever so long as you keep those elements, it's why Scooby-Doo has survived as a franchise for so long.

Velma was also Latina in the latest Scoob movie, played by Gina Rodriguez. The characters have been reimagined many MANY times since the original airing of the show, this is nothing new.pic.twitter.com/rE8hH5HcsN

It’s not the Asian part that doesn’t work it’s the whole concept of taking Velma a side character and giving her own show. What she gonna be doing dropping her glasses every episode lol.

Because characters with thin biographies have never been expanded on?

"Blank slate" is exactly what I said. Cool character with pretty much ZERO story. Look at her in the old cartoons. She literally could be anybody. Oh, and many paint Scoob & Shaggy as stoners and nooobody raised a fuss. Humans, smh

Its the other world thing thats tripping me up. Velma is Velma. She can be white, black, Asian but a different world? What? So no Scooby? lame. Thats my take on the whole thing with ZERO research btw.

I mean, did any of you see the Daphne and Velma attempt? It was terrible and i had to suffer through it on my ladies movie night. No Scoob or gang is a recipe for a bad show.
