what's the deal with americans despising the idea of opening the gift before giving it?
also I'm pretty sure anyone who says "WTF? WHY isn't there a fully intact circular piece of tape on BOTH sides of my box?! THIS THING BETTER NOT BE USED!" upon opening an expensive gift in high demand, is clearly a spoiled brat.
yea I was about to say "i kinda get it although it makes me wonder about empathy towards one's financial status" or something like that
or maybe how dinamics in family/friends relationships may vary i guess. Like how miscommunication as in "not telling the gifted that you've opened it and checked/updated or whatever because of expectations of what would be a good gift" for some reason may play a part in this
It's just more exciting to unbox something yourself and for you to be the first to use it. That's how I see it anyways.
Exactly. I don’t see how that’s hard to understand for some people. Although these days updating gifts makes sense, it would take away part of the satisfaction of unraveling when it already was.
"mooom why is my new switch already open??"
"Because Xenoblade exists honey"
This is good advice, but I don't want to rob my sister of the excitement of turning her Switch on for the first time and setting up her profile the way she wants. Also, I went through day 1 update hell so it's only fair if she gets to experience Christmas update hell. :)
I mean, you could update the console and then do a System Reset. That'd be nice.
Not a bad idea. So I assume a system reset wouldn't undo the update...?
Nope, it keeps the current update but wipes all of the data (Profiles, Controller Synchronization, game saves, photos, etc.) If you gift a micro SD with it too, you can even go as far as to hide it in it already
