because the dark moon engine was already on the 3ds and also because there's still a large amount of players using the 3ds
-
Still could of released on both switch and 3ds.
-
that would have taken more resources than it would be worth as they would have to build a new engine from the ground up and recreate many models and textures to look right in HD
-
Wind Waker HD had a development time of 6 months. Making an HD version of LM wouldn't take that long to develop.
-
But the thing is that Luigi's Mansion has things that only the 3DS can do, for one there was planned to be 3D puzzles that got cut and this is one of the few 3DS games to still use 3D
-
Also like we can just get original Luigi's Mansion on Switch at some point if GameCube games get on Switch. I personally feel that a lot of GameCube games, like Sunshine for example, don't need graphical updates cause they still look damn good.

I feel like the fact that this remake is happening at all is a hint towards Luigi's Mansion 3, so I think people should stop complaining and instead just wait and see what happens
-
It bothers me how often people complain why something isn’t on the switch, despite there being several good reasons as to why. The Luigi’s Mansion remake making the most sense as to why it’s on the 3ds; they reused the engine and assets from Dark Moon
-
Well not only that but the original for GameCube was designed for stereoscopic 3D (the kind used by 3DS) to begin with. The 3D was scrapped because the technology was too expensive for a consumer product at the time.
