The subscribe button and most other surfaces on YouTube already show the abbreviated subscriber number, so this update will just bring consistency. Creators will still be able to see the exact number of people that subscribe to their channel in YouTube Studio.

just make it consistent in the right way you idiots. there is no benefit to not seeing your accurate sub count. social blade is a better source for checking subs than youtube is now
