this was a great story! I remember hearing about how it was found. Thank you to you and your sisters for finding a way to keep this Strad in the public ear. Such a beautiful sound - wish there had more of your father playing at the end.

I was curious if Spotify had any of your father's recordings--and it does! Just search for "Totenberg" and it brings up a 1966 recording of the Beethoven violin concerto--which I assume was performed on the Strad.

Ms. Totenberg - I'm Nathan Meltzer's aunt (Dave is my big brother). I got to share this news with our 90 year old mom, Nathan's grandma and former amateur violinist. We are all so thrilled. Thank you for entrusting your father's violin to Nathan's capable hands. -Linda Meltzer

Loved this story. I met your father at Kneisel Hall in summer of 1989 - I was a piano student and still remember him just having such good fun. Thank you for ending with his playing too
