It's the shotgun approach. They write of a mythical "30" Russian conspiracy theories and "maskirovka" as if they have some insight and understanding. Yet all Russia has done is ask legit questions (unanswered), while UKgov keeps changing the story and hopes some mud will stick

Shotgun approach is spot on. They try to smear as many people as possible with the same accusation which demonizes them and their cause, hence bringing the Donbass into it. A common tactic they use on labeling anti-imperialists as all the same.

It’s unfortunate that Putin sort of abandoned the Donbass, he could have easily annexed it in March of 2014.
-
Not as easy as that. Russia respects international law. The reunification with Crimea was legal as it followed a legitimate referendum under Crimean autonomous republic constitution. Donetsk and Lugansk regions weren't autonomous - that was what their referenda were all about.
-
So Putin didn't abandon the republics - they knew in advance that unification with the Russian Federation was not going to happen. And Russia has supported them with 74 humanitarian convoys so far, as well as assistance with infrastructure repairs and rebuilding.

The "poor breakaway republic" needn't have been neither poor nor small nor..breakaway, but part of Russia (or Novorossyia) if the
#Kremlin in its supreme naivete wasn't so keen to appease its "western partners". Now it is target practice for#Ukrainian fascists and#Neonazis -

Yes, because those poor blighters in Donbass would have gotten the material, the idea, and done the planning all by themselves. Russia wouldn't use them as a proxy.

Not as a proxy for, but a proxy to. A proxy to carry out assassinations. Considering how the entire polonium tea dust up worked out, I would be surprised if the old boy didn't use a proxy.

Show me how I'm mistaken. Everything I have read suggests, in the strongest terms possible, Russian involvement. I would be happy to reconsider my views if given evidence to the contrary.

Whereas it’s tempting to mock the sheer lunacy of this, I’m now worried as to what Russia’s “Western partners” could be planning for that poor breakaway republic.
