It’s rather odd, disturbing, and doesn’t seem coincidental that British media, the BBC and The Times, simultaneously targeted in their smear pieces two Twitter users, @sahouraxo and @haloefekti, who simply engage in critical thinking.pic.twitter.com/n98MyHaKq1

What is also disturbing is that @Ian56789, a U.K. man, was not only falsely smeared by the Guardian as a “Russian bot” for critical thinking, but that his account was temporarily suspended as the U.K. govt and Atlantic Council labeled him as such.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00eJTLJGlmQ …

In other words, the UK govt, UK state and private media, and NATO’s Washington-based think tank Atlantic Council appear to join efforts to bully people with dissenting opinions through smears as “Russian bots” so as to discourage others from publicly engaging in critical thought.

And, of course, accusing a well-known and *Twitter-verified* Syrian-Australian social-media personality @Partisangirl of being a “Russian bot” is sloppier than Skripal’s miraculous recovery from a deadly military-grade nerve agent. 🤷🏻‍♀️https://twitter.com/guardianheather/status/987092846871220224?s=21 …

Another relevant aspect of UK’s targeting of specific Twitter users as “Russian bots” is that by and large these users do not criticize UK’s domestic politics and way of life, but rather focus on its foreign policy and on int’l relations in general which affect much of the world.

“The accused” of being “Russian trolls” (enemies of the state) get the chance for an interrogation on television for the benefit of infotainment: a Postmodern version of a showtrial-lite.https://twitter.com/alibunkallsky/status/987440684868210690?s=21 …

Today the gov released some data and accused two people of of being trolls. I dispassionately reported the data, contacted the accused and put the one who replied on TV and online to have his say. That is balanced journalism. And yet you disagree. Why?

The US govt is not far behind. The official State Dept Twitter recently called anti-war arguments "Russian propaganda". The Pentagon is calling the surge of anti-war anger after the stupid missile strike "a 2000% increase in Russian trolls", a number they pulled out their arse.pic.twitter.com/KFunQaZYoO

Unbiased, middle of the road, neutral - descriptions no-one in their right mind would apply to the Atlantic Council, staffed by such luminaries as Anne Applebaum.
