In future, we shouldn't celebrate "Victory" days about wars of the past 100 yrs. Nietzsche is right; there is value in historical amnesia.

Both my grandfathers fought for the United States in WWII. I admire them both. But future decisions can't be trapped in justifying the past.

Well, of course it's better to avoid wars, especially with such a mass casualty count. Russia still has the male/female gap because of WWII.

But war memory fades as a natural historic process: Napoleon's 1812 war was called the "great patriotic war" prior to calling WWII that name
