      . @NinaByzantina he's a good historian, but I'm pretty sure he's wrong about The New Cold War

      @ixaos In the sense that it's the same geopolitical opposition that we've seen for decades in one form or another?

      @NinaByzantina yes and no. If compare Cold War w today, there's striking difference: 1. No clear rules; 2. No more ideology aspect;

      @NinaByzantina 3. Most important. If previously it was 2 equal players, now it's one attacking and other merely defending. It's one-sided.

      Not quite. The global containment doctrine was Truman's, as USSR was in ruins; the partition of Berlin was initiated by the US, etc. @ixaos

      @NinaByzantina don't see your point here. You think balance is equal now as it was? Cold War distinction was soft struggle of 2 equal powers

      @ixaos I'm saying that it took decades to reach any sort of parity after 1945, and that the Cold War wasn't initiated by the USSR.

          @NinaByzantina both points debatable. Soviets acquired nuclear power very quickly/occupied East Europe

          @NinaByzantina @ixaos It doesn't matter who started it, it's who won that counts & the winner was US/capitalism. This still grates Russia

          Tell that to the $18-trillion U.S. debt + $100s trillions of unfunded and unplayable liabilities. @M1chaelK @ixaos
