炎熱の日々が続く今夏だが、ある日、孤高の詩人ヘルダーリンと出会った。彼の試作に「ディオティーマ」という美しい詩がある。これを読んでいると気分がすこぶるクリアになるのだ。
@M_Liszt Are you reading Hölderlin in the original German?

@NinaByzantina No, I'm not. I can't read German, so I read a Japanese translation.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@M_Liszt I'm a Germanophile & a Japanophile--that's two for the price of one! ;) I translate Ru/Eng poetry, so I'm aware of the difficulties -
@NinaByzantina Do you translate it yourself? That's amazing! I usually read a translated book from it's original language. -
@M_Liszt Thanks. I translate Russian->English poetry & prose personally & professionally. Living in an English-speaking environment helps :) -
@NinaByzantina That is great. Who is your favorite poet? -
@M_Liszt In Russian, Mayakovsky. In English, maybe Donne. There are several, whose standalone poems I like, e.g., Alexander Blok. Yourself? -
@NinaByzantina I got interested in them. As for me, Edgar Allan Poe, Christina Rossetti and Jules Supervielle. They write a beautiful poem. -
@M_Liszt Poe was a big part of my learning English in Russia as a child, & I obviously love "dark" literature. How about folk rhymes, etc.? -
@NinaByzantina That sounds fun. I love dark work of art too, but I don't read many folk rhymes. What do you recommend? - 4 more replies
