Sure, but we can understand they fear an Iranian military presence close to their borders, much as Russia doesn't willingly acquiesce in NATO forces being placed right on their borders. The US attempted to overthrow Castro when nuclear muscles arrived in Cuba. Can Iran leave Syria?

The difference is Russia strengthens it's borders in order to defend itself, whereas Israel shoots missiles into Syria. What would happen if Russia did the same into countries with NATO bases? Israel is a rogue state.

Russia&US have no cause for war, but reckless allies. What Israel did was reckless&Iran recklessly moves weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon,&http://H.is in sporadic conflict with Israel. Its unrealistic to think Israel won't preemptively strike wherever the weapons are...

Do Russian ex-pats in Israel identify as Russians or as Israelis? I'm asking because I do hope Russia does not see Israel as another Motherland to be protected at all cost. Will Russia one day have to say 'we should not have trusted Israel' before WWIII?
